THE KITE RUNNER - A MUST READ

“And that's the thing about people who mean everything they say. They think everyone else does too.”
Khaled Hosseini, The Kite Runner

Rating : 5/5

Today I bring you to one of my most favorite novel of the time. I read this book a while ago when I was in college and immediately fell in love with Khaled Hosseini's writing  that I ordered his another two books : A thousand Splendid Sun & The Mountains Echoed (Will review them soon) as soon as I completed this one.

This is Khaled's first work but the way he portrayed plethora of emotions in it is Beautiful and much more impactful than many others.  The Kite Runner is a story of friendship between Amir and Hassan Their love for Kites, Books, Poems. Hassan used to do Kite Running for Amir where Amir used to read books for Hassan. The money, caste difference stands no where between them. They could share everything and anything with each other. . It’s not a book that will give you peace, it’s  sad one ( not the gloomy kind) but the one where you feel each emotion. At one moment you will be Hasan, in another moment you will be Amir and then in next you will be Baba. You will live with them and you will die with them. It will hold your hand and take you down the lanes of Afghanistan, Pakistan and all the way to America, underlying which is a tale of guilt, regret, loss, redemption and hope.

While reading the book we all will think of ourselves to be Hassan but soon we will realize actually we are more like Amir. We had our flaws, we all do something in life whose guilt we carry till death with us. Same like Amir we consider ourselves “good’, we wish to help, to speak up, but we fail to do anything about it, our fear of punishment stops us. This book will make you smile and then make you cry and then it will make you content and again it will make you cry a little more.

Having incorporated numerous beautiful lines, Hosseini has ardently shown life in Afghan and human emotions around the atrocities that happen there. With each chapter you will learn harsh truth of life, of yourself.

Go read the book to find how & why Amir settled in US, why one of the richest business man of Afghan had to work at a gas station in USA and lived all his life in guilt, And find out what happened to Hassan, what separated two friends and will they ever meet again and what made Amir visit back his hometown after 20 years.

Happy Reading :)

P.S :  I have reviewed the book, I now look forward for your review on my work. Do comment.
